Strikers SA is excited about its new alliance with 12 other soccer clubs

Bluffton, SC- Over the past 7 years Strikers SA Director of Coaching (Trevor Garbett) has been working hard to try to get the clubs in the local area to work together. With the help of Savannah United’s Academy Director (Keith Gunn) on December 16 a meeting was held in Savannah, Ga with 12 Youth Soccer Clubs. By the end of the night everyone was on board and excited about the new Coastal South Soccer Alliance. The CSSA will consist of a festival format with 7 hosting clubs for Jr Academy/Academy age groups (U8-U12). Each team will receive two games when traveling. With the addition of clubs like CGFC (Saint Simons Island, Ga), and SAF (Macon, GA) this will bring the quality of play that was lacking with local leagues in our area in the past. Strikers SA will be hosting two weekends, one in March 2017, and another in April 2017. CGFC will kick things off on February 4, 2017 down in St Simons, and Savannah United will finish off the season in Savannah, Ga on May 20, 2017. With so many clubs participating no team will be short on games. There will be two games played each Saturday over 11 weekends and will give the Strikers SA coaches plenty of quality games to develop teams for regional tournaments and events. The Festival format is the best way for development and allows coaches/clubs to move players and teams around to better develop the teams and players for the next level of play. This format is also easier for coaches to schedule the proper level of play and not be restricted by an age group or division. This helps keep coaches, players, and parents focused on development instead of  worrying about winning and being at the top of the division at all cost. As soccer continues to grow in the low country and coastal empire the need for a good alliance among the clubs is important and we are off to a great start with this new alliance. The participating Clubs are: Strikers SA, Savannah United, Coastal Georgia Football Club, Effingham United, GPS Coastal, Richmond Hill FC, Hinesville Gators, Southern Alliance Futbol (Macon & Warner Robins), Statesboro United, and Effingham FC.
